MinistryCOM 2007 | Day 1

MinistryCOM day 1 has been pretty good. I’ve met some cool people and had some great conversation.

The conference has a different feel this year. It doesn’t seem to be as relational as it was last year. I miss the round tables in the main sessions and the speakers just speaking from the floor. I think it would be better if the main sessions were in a smaller room. Right now the auditorium is only 1/3 full so it creates a bit of a weird dynamic. But the speakers have been great and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

For an interesting take on the conference, check out this post.

  1. Dave, thanks for link and sorry for the misunderstanding. Seems some folks – maybe you as well – think my post you linked to there is about the conference. It’s not my take on the the conference. I didn’t go to the conference. I sat in the hallway for almost six hours working on my laptop while my kids were involved in a program at the church where the conference met. I wrote a tongue in cheek post about what I observed for a few minutes from my perch amongst the exhibitors.

The good thing is a great discussion has begun in the comments of that post. But that wasn’t my intention. My apologies for any misunderstanding and hard feelings that may have arisen from it.

    Thanks, Dave.

  2. Oh, and nice reference to Spinal Tap in your tagline up there. David St.Hubbins is a personal hero of mine. ; )

  3. Thanks for the comments Shaun. No hard feelings at all! I give you props for making such an effort to clear up the mis-understanding.

And I resonated with your comments on some levels. I find myself at Christian events wondering “is all this really necisarry?” I think it’s a good question to wrestle with.
